The Invisible Man

I posted about the uncertain future of the Dark Universe before. I said that I do not think they are going about things the right way, but I thought they could turn it around. I want to double down on that with the most recent news of the fate of the Dark Universe.
The Mummy was a weird film, it did well financially in other places, but it was...not good. It was not fun or even scary. It wasn't a story I would want to revisit. Between that and Dracula Untold...Man, I was like this universe should not be connected. And, despite the inclusion of Jekyll and Hyde, I was like...hard yikes. I have my own ideas about the kind of story I want to see, but I am not getting paid #onhere so I will keep them to myself. What I will tell you guys is that it appears that The Dark Universe is starting fresh.  The most recent reboot is going to be The Invisible Man. Not a lot of news about it is out, but we do know that it stars Elizabeth Moss (Us, Mad Men, The Handmaid's Tale) and Oliver Jackson-Cohen (Faster, The Raven). The movie is coming out in 2020. I appreciate that Johnny Depp has been fired because he was one of the reasons I was a little worried about how tings were going to go. I'm not going to pretend that Depp is one of my favorite actors or anything like that. I do recognize that he is popular and talented, but I would prefer for him to get his personal life/health in order before taking on more big projects. The old 'Dark universe' was a cinematic universe that had people appearing in other people's movies. Johnny Depp's issues have taken a toll on his acting in my opinion, and I really think for the Dark Universe to work everyone needs to be okay. Because a lot of the characters, but especially The Invisible Man have a lot of dark undertones and I think it could lead to a Heath/Joker situation if people are not careful.

If you are unfamiliar with The Invisible Man, he is really not a good person at all. And, from what little I have read about the remake, he sounds WORSE. And, with all the stuff currently being said about Johnny Depp, this is not a good role for him.
The movie has already completed filming, so we do not have to worry about it not even being made. We won't know if it's good until February of next year. I think having The Invisible Man bring us back into The Dark Universe is kind of a weird choice, he is not very popular compared to the other "monsters". I also think that has the potential to be really cool, since he is not as known.
Something I would like to see is Griffin (The Invisible Man) being a character like Deadpool. I mean, with like the personality of a jerk, because outside of Hotel Transylvania, I don't think The Invisible man has ever been a likeable character. It would be cool to see a monster acknowledge that he's a bad person, but he could be funny, so it would cancel out.
However, I'm not sure if this movie is stand alone or not, I have heard different things. So, I guess we will see. I trust Blumhouse to do right by this movie! If the movie is stand alone I would be 100000% okay with that, especially given the ending of Griffin's story.
